Welcome

There are many challenges around the world that impact on the health of women and their children. As the health of the newborn is closely linked with the health of the mother, and both impact on their communities’ prosperity, it is prudent to invest in effective healthcare provisions for both these population groups to facilitate healthier communities in the future.

The upcoming Qatar International Women and Newborn Health Conference will be organized around the theme "Supporting Excellence in Perinatal Wellbeing". It represents the global recognition of the importance of investing in healthcare for this population group.

This educational event also links closely with the World Health Organization declaration of 2020 being the 'Year of the Nurse and the Midwife’, in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. It will include a review of international Midwifery, women’s health and neonatal nursing best practice.

Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health is committed to ensuring the development of healthy women, leading to healthy pregnancies, and has identified maternal and newborn health as one of the priority focus areas in the National Health Strategy 2018 - 2022.

This conference, the first international high profile event on this topic in this region, will provide a valuable platform for healthcare practitioners, advocates, researchers and policymakers from around the world to gather, discuss and share best practice regarding healthcare for women and newborns.

Your active participation will contribute to the success of this important educational event. Whether you will present a paper or attend lectures, the conference offers an amazing opportunity to network with local, regional and international colleagues and experts and we look forward to welcoming you at the conference next February.
