    Modern Technologies and Special Techniques in the Treatment of Breast Cancer: State of the Art Radiation Therapy at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research in Qatar.

    Summary:

    The Radiation Oncology Mini Symposium will describe the process from the first encounter with the breast cancer patient, to treatment planning and Radiation Therapy delivery. This will cover volume definition, dose prescription, planning, quality assurance, plan evaluation and imaging. The symposium will focus on the perspectives of the Radiation Oncologist and of the Medical Physicist. Special attention will be dedicated to state of the art technologies available at the National Centre Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR), employed in both curative and palliative settings, with a description of our linear accelerators and dedicated CT and MRI simulators, and to special techniques used at our department, such as Voluntary Deep Inspiration Breath Hold, Magnetic Resonance-Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) and Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SRT).

  • “Be Breast Aware”

    “Be Breast Aware” Practical Workshops for women will be ongoing as parallel sessions with the radiotherapy mini symposium on Sunday, 18 October.. During this workshop will be conducted 10-15 minutes sessions explaining how to examine breasts for lumps what changes to look out for, also will be discussed five steps for breast awareness and highlighted important tips to remember. Bilingual “Be Breast Aware” brochures will be distributed for the workshop participants.
