Nursing Informatics Department services is design to improve nursing care utilizing technology. Our team is proactively engaged in facility operations such as design, testing and validation of Clinical Information Systems, Nursing Workforce Management solution, and other health related technologies implementions. As well, using various informatics specific policies, NI contributes to standardize nursing practices related to healthcare technology. Moreover, provide expert assistance in identifying and providing HMC nurses with the necessary CIS privileges and support service on the ground or remotely to ensure effective utilization of the Clinical information system.
Farthermore, Nursing Informatics Department initiates several informatics projects implemented across Hamad Medical Corporation to establish, improve, and maintain benchmarks for patient safety. Simultaneously, NI collaborates with various stakeholders at the corporate organization level and provides Nursing Informatics expertise in improvement projects that enhance nursing care and patient experience.
During the pandemic to keep nurses abreast with the CIS changes, the Nursing Informatics Department was involved in planning, developing, testing and implementing CIS-related changes.
NI’s expertise was used extensively in translating requirements into a viable aligned clinical processes such as in the following activities
- Participate in CIS design and validation of the created new units and expansions in the systems
- End-user device assessment for new areas opened to manage the high volume of patients
- Medical device integration, testing and training in the new COVID areas, hospitals, and field hospitals
- Provide consultation on nursing workflow and new system changes
