Dissemination: Sharing Your Scholarly Work and Innovation

Itqan Clinical Simulation & Innovation Center proudly presented a seminar led by Suzan Kardong-Edgren, PhD, RN, CHSE, ANEF, FSSH, FAAN titled “Dissemination: Sharing Your Scholarly Work and Innovation" with the world: Not just publications anymore! This seminar was designed for researchers, educators, simulationists, clinicians, residents, and anyone who wants to learn cutting-edge ways to advance their reach and reputation for their research and/or innovative teaching practices.

Objectives:

  • Consider various tools to consider for use in your scholarly works including JANE and the H-index
  • Explain predatory journals and conferences and how to avoid them
  • Consider various social media methods to disseminate your scholarly works (research, innovations, etc.)

Topic Description: Publishing your manuscripts in journals with high Impact Factors and speaking at major conferences used to be the major way to gain a reputation in simulation and scholarship. The world has changed; your personal H-index is now much more important than the Impact Factor. Social Media (SoMe) provides a number of new ways to get your research and innovations recognized around the world quickly and often for free. This presentation will offer a variety of tips and tricks to help you become known for your work. We will also talk about how to recognize and avoid predatory journals and conferences.
