Dr. ​​​Izzat Khanjar

Dr. Izzat Khanjar is a Senior Consultant Rheumatologist at HMC with over four decades of clinical experience. He has held the Jordanian Board in Rheumatology since 1982 and received advanced training in rheumatology and autoimmune diseases at the Lupus Unit, St Thomas' Hospital in the UK, as well as at leading academic centers in California and Louisiana, USA. He holds EULAR certificates in General Rheumatology, Connective Tissue Diseases (CTD), and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.

Dr. Khanjar's clinical interests focus on complex autoimmune and connective tissue diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), Sjögren's syndrome, adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD), Behçet's disease (BD), and metabolic bone disease, particularly osteoporosis. He is the Director and Founder of the Annual Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK US) Courses, a highly regarded educational initiative he has led for over 10 years.

His qualifications in musculoskeletal ultrasound include the EULAR Ultrasound Certificate (Trainer-to-Trainer level), EFSUMB Level 2, and the RMSK credential. Dr. Khanjar is particularly passionate about education and hands-on procedures, with special expertise in suprascapular nerve blocks (SNSGB), salivary gland ultrasound, crystal disease evaluation, and skin punch biopsies.

He is an active member of several international professional organizations, including the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), APLAR, EULAR, USSONAR, ARLAR, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). Dr. Khanjar has authored several publications and continues to contribute to the advancement of clinical practice and education in rheumatology​
