Dr. Shazia Nadeem
Acting Head of Surveillance and Outbreak, Public Health Department, Supreme Council of Health, Qatar

Dr. Shazia Nadeem holds a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery and has complemented her Masters in Public Health. Dr. Nadeem is currently working as A/Head Surveillance and the Outbreak Section with the Supreme Council of Health, Qatar. She has 13 years of experience working in the Public Health Department at the Supreme Council of Health, Qatar, dealing with outbreaks of communicable diseases and impeding pandemics. With the SARS outbreak in 2003, start of the bird flu outbreaks in 2005, the H1N1 pandemic in 2009 in the recent MERS CoV and Ebola Virus disease public health emergencies she has confronted new challenges.

Dr. Nadeem has had the privilege of leading the public health response in the above mentioned public health emergencies in the State of Qatar. She has been involved in the development of emergency response plans for communicable diseases and in coordinating the response of the health sector, as well as the oil and gas sector. She has presented at workshops, seminars and training sessions and has been involved in the development of plans and protocols as well as other preparedness and response activities.  Dr. Nadeem’s coordination with the WHO regional office and implementation of International Health Regulations 2005 (IHR 2005) with an all hazard approach (CBRN) are among her accomplishments
