The value of pre-briefing 

At the completion of this part, the participant will be able to:

  • Outline the elements that define psychological safety.
  • Discuss the impact of pre-briefing on the psychological safety of learners and their performance within a simulation.
  • Discuss the potential impact of an incomplete pre-briefing on performance of learners within a simulation.
  • Critically appraise a recorded pre-briefing video and comment on its effectiveness.

Reflective Learning Conversations (RLC)- PART 1 

At the completion of this part, the participant will be able to:

  • Define RLC and the benefits of its use in IPS.
  • Recognize the Learning Conversation as an IPS-RLC model and discuss the steps involved in its delivery.
  • Apply the knowledge of the Learning conversation to plan a debrief based on watching a simulation video.
  • Discuss the importance of addressing human factors versus clinical knowledge and skills when debriefing.

  • Critically appraise a video of a Learning Conversation as a model for IPS-RLC.
  • Reflect how the Learning Conversations can be used to optimize clinical reasoning, judgment, decision-making, and critical thinking.
  • Reflect on how the Learning Conversation was used to address human factors in the video.
