Mehmet Zileli, M.D.

Dr. Mehmet Zileli is the Professor of Neurosurgery at Neurosurgery Department in Ege University, Izmir, Turkey. 

He is currently the Chairman of World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies’ Spine Committee (2017 to present); Chairman ISMISS Turkey Chapter (2018 to 2020); and Honorary President of the Middle East Spine Society. 

His past appointments were: First and Founding President of the Spine Section of Turkish Neurosurgical Society (1995 to 1999), President of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society (2006 to 2008), President of the World Spinal Column Society (2010 to 2014) and President of the Asia Pacific Cervical Spine Society (2014 to 2015).

Dr. Zileli has important contributions to education and training of spine surgeons in Turkey by organizing 15 courses on spine surgery since 1997 and three cadaveric courses (2003, 2005, 2010). He has also been the host of the “Travelling Fellowship of Spine Society of Europe” (2002, 2003, 2004).

He is the founder of the First Spine Fellowship Program in Turkey that served many national (35) and international (45) fellows.
He is the author or co-author of 155 scientific articles (74 international, 81 national), editor of 9 books, author of 24 international and 81 national book chapters.
