Prof. Abdul Badi Abou-Samra

Abdul Badi Abou-Samra is an academic MD/PhD physician scientist certified in internal medicine and in endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Abou-Samra has international experience, Lyon I University, France for 5 years, the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryland for 2 years, Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital for 21 years, and the Wayne State University School of Medicine for 5 years. He was Professor of Medicine, Professor of Physiology and Professor of Molecular Genetics, Chief of the endocrine division, Director of the endocrinology fellowship program and Director of a T32 endocrine research training program.
Dr. Abou-Samra received multiple recognitions for his scientific contributions and led research continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health between 1986 until 2014. Dr. Abou-Samra has 258 original papers referenced in PubMed, h-index of 61 in Google Scholar, and contributed to 5 USA patents. He served as a member of the NIH endocrine study section and member of editorial board for several international journals.
Prof. Abou-Samra joined HMC in 2013 as chairman of Medicine; he then became the Chief Quality Officer and deputy Chief Medical Officer in 2020. He continues to be the Director of the Qatar Metabolic Institute and Co-Chair for the Qatar National Diabetes Committee.
