How to submit a research proposal at MRC:

All research proposal submissions are to be submitted through ABHATH - MRC’s online research system. ABHATH facilitates in preparation, submission, review, approval as well as post approval processes of research studies. Other study related aspects such as Finance and Legal are also managed within ABHATH.

Researchers seeking to conduct studies at Hamad Medical Corporation are therefore advised to set up profiles and sign up on the system. This will help them initiate the process of research submission and management. Researchers can contact MRC for all research related queries and clarification via AbhathSupport@hamad.qa

A good research proposal shall include (but not limited to) the following:
  • Aims/objectives of the proposal (What do you want to know, prove, demonstrate, analyze, test, investigate or examine) as well as expected outcomes
  • An introduction to the proposal, identifying the subject for research in terms of theoretical issues and relevant practical applications (significance)
  • Review of relevant literature and theories relating to the proposed research
  • Study population (Highlighting vulnerable categories if included)
  • Sources of information/ data for the study
  • Description of research methods that will be used
  • Timelines (Feasibility)
  • Location of the research related tasks and activities
  • Any known risks pertaining to the study
  • Data management and analysis plans
Researchers/ PIs shall ensure that all proposed research complies with HMC and MRC Policies and Guidelines (Please refer to Policy and Guidelines Tab)

CITI Training:

In order to conduct research at HMC it is mandatory that the Principal Investigator, other investigators and research personnel of a study who are directly involved in conducting research with study participants or who are directly involved with handling private information related to study participants during the course of a research project need to register on the CITI site and complete and upload below listed CITI modules on their ABHATH profiles.
  • HMC Biomedical and Social Behavioral Researchers (HIPS)
  • HMC Biomedical Researchers (Basic Course) or HMC Social Behavioral Researchers (Basic Course)
  • HMC Clinical Trials Investigators (GCP)
