All patients must have an appointment before arriving at the Outpatient Department. You do not need to call or visit the hospital to book an appointment as we will contact you. You will also be given an appointment reminder phone call from the Patient Contact Center three days prior to the day of your appointment to remind you of the date and time. You will be sent an SMS message one day before the day of your appointment.

If you wish to reschedule your appointment you can do so by calling the Patient Contact Center on (+974) 4439 5777 (between 7am to 3pm) You may also reschedule when we call you to remind you about your appointment time.

New Patients

You will need a referral from a Primary Health Care Center, Emergency Department, Pediatric Emergency Center or any private clinic if you want to see a specialist in any Outpatient Department (OPD) clinic at Hamad General Hospital (HGH). HGH OPD will receive your referral and our Patient Contact Center will call you to make an appointment based on the advice of the triaging physician.

Follow-up Patients

After your initial appointment with the OPD physician, you will be given your next appointment at the OPD Control Desk as per the doctor’s advice/request.

Private Evening Clinic

You can call the center and book an appointment by telephone: (+974) 4439 2600/2402/2611.

Attendance

You are advised to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will be rescheduled for another day. This protects all appointment times for other patients. This also ensures that your appointment time too is protected, and means that other late patients will not cause you any delay. Patients with appointments will be seen by their treating team within 30 minutes from their appointment time. You are permitted to bring a friend or relative with you to your appointment if you would like someone to accompany you. Water fountains and vending machines are available for the use of patients in the waiting areas.
