Professor Basil Ammori  

Professor Basil Ammori is a Consultant Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal and Oncology Surgeon at King Hussein Cancer Center, Amman, Jordan since November 2017. Previously he was the Lead Consultant Bariatric & Laparoscopic Surgeon at Salford Royal Hospital (March 2009 to October 2017), a Consultant Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeon at North Manchester General Hospital (March 2009 to April 2015) and a Consultant Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary, Bariatric & Laparoscopic Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK (January 2002 to February 2009). He is an Honorary Professor of Hepatobiliary & Bariatric Surgery at The University of Manchester. He was granted a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000. He has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, bariatric surgery (obesity surgery) and gastrointestinal oncology surgery.

Professor Basil Ammori is a recognized figure within the national and international surgical community. He has expertise in over 6000 laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures including obesity surgery, cholecystectomy, bile duct exploration, hernia repair, splenectomy, anti-reflux surgery (Nissen fundoplication and implantation of the LINX device), adrenalectomy, pancreatic and liver resections and gastric and colonic resections for cancer.

Professor Ammori has a reputable academic profile, is a member of the editorial board of several peer-reviewed medical journals and has more than 170 scientific publications.
