​Dr. Alaaedin Azmi (Palestine)

Dr. Alaaedin Azmi is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon from Palestine, and a professor of orthopedic surgery at the Palestine Polytechnic University- Palestine, He also adjunct professor in university of Toledo, Ohio - USA, with 26+ years of experience. He had clinical and research interests are in pediatric spinal surgery and club foot management, with a special focus on early-onset scoliosis, minimally invasive techniques in pediatric spine deformity, and accelerated Ponseti technique. He had published over 40 papers and chapters on these topics in international peer-reviewed journals and books and am co-editor of the book Early-Onset Scoliosis - Guidelines for Management in Resource-Limited Settings (Taylor and Francis). 
He also active as a global surgeon overseeing and participating in clinical programs that focus on education and training in Asia, Africa, and Latin America regions. He had activity in global organizations includes participation in committees and programs such as SRS, SICOT, AO Spine, NASS, Euro spine, and Pan Arab Spine society.
Over the past 15 years, he had developed a novel technique, Active Apex Correction (APC), for surgical management of Early Onset Scoliosis. This technique has proven to be reliable, accessible, and affordable in developed and developing countries.

It is now used by surgical teams in over 12 countries, with positive results, published 7 papers in peer reviewed global journals (Global spine, Eurospine, etc.), and with ongoing plans for large multicentre studies.

He had also developed a one-week accelerated Ponseti technique which does Ponseti casting for idiopathic clubfoot within a week instead of 6 weeks. This technique helps clubfoot missions to finish their job within time and is therefore also more accessible for families who must travel and stay far away from their homes for surgery. Two papers have been published on the procedure in the European Journal of Foot and Ankle, and it is gaining popularity in several countries including Egypt.

He is running research with the Biomedical Engineering department Toledo-Ohio on the new APC
