Dr. Mothaffar F. Rimawi, M.D.
Dr. Rimawi is the Dan L Duncan Professor of Medicine, co-Leader of the Breast Cancer Research Program, and Executive Medical Director of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) at Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St Luke's Medical Center.
He is also the Chief of the Oncology Service Line for St. Luke's Health. He received his medical degree from the University of Jordan School of Medicine. He completed his training in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Breast Oncology, and a research fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Rimawi research interest is in translational clinical trials and biomarkers of response and resistance. Dr. Rimawi has designed and led multiple prominent national and international practices in breast cancer with a particular focus on HER2+ and ER+ breast cancer.
His work helped promote dual HER2 inhibition, concurrent targeting of ER, and treatment de-escalation. Grants from the National Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense Breast Research Program, and several foundations fund his research.
He serves on multiple national clinical research leadership committees, including Vice Chair of the Breast Committee of the NRG Oncology Group and co-Chair of the HER2 Working Group of the Translational Breast Cancer Symposium (TBCRC).
