​Dr. Azar Naveen Saleem graduated in medicine from Al Ameen Medical College in India. Following his internship, he worked as co-investigator in multiple clinical trials at the Health and Research Centre, Trivandrum, Kerala India.
He had a short stint as a research extern at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital, Kentucky, USA.
In 2013, he joined Hamad Medical Corporation as a resident in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He made significant contributions in his short time in the department, being one of the core participants in drafting the first Rehabilitation Strategy in Qatar. He also co-authored Qatar's first proposal for the establishment of Traffic Medicine, which was presented in International Traffic Medicine Association summit held at Berlin in 2013.

Subsequently, he successfully completed a residency in internal medicine and obtained the Arab Board of Heath Specialization Certificate in Internal Medicine. Subsequently, inspired to pursue the nobility and satisfaction of improving the quality of human life, he took up a fellowship in Palliative Medicine.
Dr Azar is very passionate about palliative medicine and has contributed to several publications in palliative care.
He has also authored the textbook “Onco-Palliative Care Essentials” published by the famous Elsevier Academic Press and, he has co-authored chapters in leading book publications:
 1.Chapter- Cultural factors enriching palliative care in the Middle East published in the book Finding Dignity at the End of Life (2019, Routledge)

 2.Chapter- Importance and Effect of Research Findings on the Outcome of Clinical Practice of Palliative Care published in the book ‘The Role and Importance of Research in Promoting Palliative Care Practices (2020, Nova Biomedical)

In his capacity as a consultant in palliative medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation, he represents the department in the Clinical Pathway Guideline Committee, Infection control committee and part of the gynec -onco MDT representing palliative care.

Dr Azar is also very passionate about teaching and is a guest lecturer for medical students in ‘Medicine Patient and Society III’ at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar; and he has also been awarded a certificate of appreciation for the same.​
