Dr. Hassan Ali Saoud Al Thani
Head of the Trauma, Vascular Surgery and General Surgery Sections, Hamad Medical Corporation
Dr. Hassan Al Thani is the Head of the Trauma, Vascular Surgery and General Surgery Sections at Hamad General Hospital as well as a Board Member of Hamad Medical Corporation. He is also a Board Member of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and Director of the Arab Board Program of Surgery in Qatar. Dr. Al Thani graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed his surgical training in both Qatar and Canada. He completed his training in trauma and vascular surgery at McMaster University Health Sciences, Canada. Upon completion of his training, he returned to Qatar to join the faculty at Hamad General Hospital as Senior Consultant in the Department of Surgery in 2004. In the same year he established the Vascular Unit and today he is head of both the Vascular and Trauma Services at Hamad General Hospital.
Dr. Al Thani has held various administrative posts, including Board Member of Hamad Medical Corporation 2006-2008, Chairman of the Organ Transplant Committee 2008-2009, Board Member of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar from 2008, Executive Board Member of the Gulf Vascular Society from 2007 and President of the Gulf Vascular Society from 2009.
