Dr. Alkhulaifi has been instrumental in bringing about advanced techniques in open heart surgery such as off pump CABG surgery, surgical treatment of advanced heart failure (LVAD) and mitral valve repair since 2001. He has performed basic scientific research at the Hatter Institute, University College London, on ischemic preconditioning of the human heart. Dr. Alkhulaifi and his group are currently developing the necessary infrastructure for the purpose of performing basic scientific research at Heart Hospital in collaboration with several institutions, local and international. Also, a number of innovative surgical and electronic devices have been designed and patented by his team at CT Department.
