Professor Patel graduated from University College London in 1991. He is a clinical anesthetist and continues to develop and refine the largest experience of anesthetising adult airway patients (>6,000 procedures) under general anesthesia in the UK, probably Europe and possibly the world.
His research is clinically orientated around all aspects of shared airway and difficult airway management. He has been an invited speaker to over 300 national and international meetings in 38 countries. He has over 130+ peer-reviewed publications, 25 book chapters and over 4,500 citations.
He has received the Humphry Davy Award from The Royal College of Anesthetists, Distinguished Research Award from International Airway Management Society and honorary membership of the European Airway Management Society for extraordinary contribution in the field of airway management.
