“I have been privileged to serve as a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council at Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) since 2018, when my husband received care at ACC’s Ophthalmology clinic. Over these years, I have witnessed ACC's remarkable progress since achieving Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care.

PFAC has had a profound impact on my life, bringing positive energy to me and my family. Engaging in various activities organized for ACC’s patients and their families has not only enriched my experience but also significantly enhanced my interpersonal skills. Being part of PFAC has allowed me to contribute to shaping the patient care experience at ACC, fostering a deeper connection with the healthcare community and promoting a culture of person-centered care.”

“Person-centered care serves as a bridge to the Private Nursing Services, communicating ideas and feedback to the Patient and Family Advisory Council as needed. This enhances the relationship between patients, families, and staff. I am grateful for their efforts and the valuable suggestions they provide for patient care. We represent the ‘voice of patients’ who cannot attend, ensuring their needs are communicated through the council. We appreciate that we have this platform that allows staff to hear directly from the patients and families they serve. By involving patients and families in planning and implementing service improvement projects and patient programs, we aim to foster collaboration and continuous improvement. I encourage every care partner to share their voice with the PFAC, so together we can be the voice of the patient and strive for greater achievements, God willing.”

“During the global pandemic in 2020, I contracted COVID-19 and visited Communicable Disease Center (CDC) for testing and follow-up care. It was during this time that a nurse invited me to join the Patient and Family Advisory Council, explaining its purpose, which resonated deeply with me, leading me to join and subsequently be appointed as the Chairperson.

As members of the PFAC, we actively participate in council meetings, discussions, and collaborative projects. We share our experiences, ideas, and insights to shape programs that promote person-centered care and work closely with hospital staff to effect positive changes. PFAC meetings typically occur monthly, requiring pre-meeting review of materials and feedback on agenda items. Depending on the PCC initiatives, additional project meetings may be required. I had the privilege of participating in a therapeutic art workshop at the Middle East Forum 2023, which was a valuable learning experience. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to CDC for their commendable efforts in embracing a person-centered approach to healthcare delivery.”

“A friend of mine who works at Heart Hospital introduced me to the Patient and Family Advisory Council, and as a long-standing patient of the hospital, I eagerly joined. Our monthly meetings, typically lasting an hour, provide a platform for patients like me to share feedback and insights, while quick surveys allow us to contribute our perspectives. During these sessions, doctors and administrators listen attentively, making us feel valued and heard.

Active participation in PFAC has allowed us to collaborate closely with HMC’s healthcare professionals, providing deeper insights into our cases and influencing improvements in procedures and care. By voicing our concerns and suggestions, we aim to help HMC enhance procedures and policies to better meet our needs, ultimately improving the overall patient experience at the hospital.”
