
Dr. Nabila Al-Meer

Dr. Nabila Al-Meer was appointed as Dean of the new College of Nursing at Qatar University in 2022, with the goal of overseeing a national academic facility to develop the next generation of nurses in Qatar.
Previously, Dr. Al-Meer has had an illustrious career spanning over 45 years at Hamad Medical Corporaon (HMC) in Qatar, where she has held various leadership and managerial roles. She is a pioneer in the Qatari nursing profession, being the first Qatari nurse to achieve a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas in the USA. She has played a key role in curriculum development and continuing nursing education programs, which has been a deciding factor in being appointed as the Dean of the College of Nursing at Qatar University. Her mentorship and leadership have made her a respected figure in the nursing community.
During her tenure at HMC, Dr. Nabila was instrumental in reshaping nursing practices and governance. Dr. Nabila has actively contributed to nursing research, fostering a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice. She was promoted to Deputy Chief for Continuing Care Services at HMC and Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) Nursing Affairs, where she oversaw the establishment of continuing care services and aligns them with national health strategies. She was also appointed as the Nursing Affairs Lead at the Qatar Ministry of Public Health.
Dr. Nabila has received numerous awards and was also recognized with an honorary career award and the 1st Daisy Award in Qatar. Additionally, she was honored as a Fellow ad Eundem by the Royal College of Surgeons in London.
Dr. Nabila Al-Meer's dedication to advancing the nursing profession extends beyond Qatar, as she is recognized both regionally and internationally for her contributions to healthcare and nursing.
