Dr. Wafa Abualainin is working as clinical scientist in the Diagnostic Genomic Division, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Hamad General Hospital, Doha, Qatar.
Dr. Wafa completed her PhD in cancer studies from School of Medicine, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. She has several years of working experience in molecular genetics since 2004, which enables her to apply advanced genomic technologies to diagnostics very successfully.
In a very short period of time, Dr. Wafa established a new discipline in the genomic division, the Molecular Testing of multiple solid tumors. This diagnostic service constitutes a clear step toward precision medicine and is being offered for the first time in the state of Qatar. Availability of in house diagnostic service helped has great impact on health care and personalized management of cancer patients. Currently, Dr. Wafa is working on use of cell free tumor DNA as biomarker for noninvasive testing.
