Brief Biography:
Dr. Zafar Nawaz is a senior consultant clinical scientist and head of diagnostic genomic division. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
Dr. Zafar obtained his certificate of qualification as laboratory director for molecular and cytogenetics from the department of health, New York State, USA.
Dr. Zafar was trained at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada and Emory University, Atlanta, USA. He is affiliated with Weill Cornell University as an assistant professor of pathology and laboratory medicine.
Research Interest:
Dr. Zafar’s interest is focused on developing molecular technologies and their application in research and diagnostics to identify, and characterize, molecular mechanisms in different genetic conditions. During training, Dr. Zafar has developed techniques for research and many assays for diagnostic use. Dr. Zafar is successfully using microarray and next generation sequencing along with other technologies for routine diagnostics and research in a wide variety of genetic and acquired conditions. Dr. Zafar is participating in many research projects supported by QNRF and Hamad Medical Corporation.
