Introduction:

Diabetes is a chronic & complex disease that affects millions of people worldwide. The management goes beyond the pharmacotherapy alone, it requires different strategies one of these strategies is Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) which provides an evidence-based foundation to empower people with diabetes to navigate self-management decisions and activities. DSMES is a cost-effective tool proven to help improve health behaviors and health outcomes for people with diabetes. The purpose of this workshop is to empower diabetes care and patient education specialists with knowledge and skills that provide patients with high quality of care and education.

Learning Objectives:


Upon concluding this workshop, the participant will be able to:

  1. To recognize the updates in HTN medical management.
  2. Recognize the updates in hypercholesterolemia medical management.
  3. Discuss the practical educational information and skills needed to educate patients with diabetes who are affected by HIN & lipid.
  4. Update their knowledge about nephrology complications and medical management.
  5. Discuss the educational information and skills needed to educate patients with diabetes how to avoid renal complications and how to manage their renal complications if they are affected.
