Dr. Wafa Abualainin
Dr. Wafa is the Head of Solid Tumor Diagnostic Genomics, DLMP-HMC. She is an Assistant professor – Clinical Domain at Qatar University.
Dr. Wafa obtained her 1st degree from Qatar University in 2004 and joined HMC directly. She completed her Ph.D. in Cancer Studies - Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine at the University of Liverpool-UK-2014.
Dr. Wafa has consistently published in respected peer-reviewed journals and enhanced her experience by specialized training in highly recognized institutes including University Health Network–UHN Toronto-Canada and Harvard Medical School.
Her experience enables her to apply advanced genomic technologies to diagnostics very successfully. In a brief period, Dr. Wafa established a new discipline in the genomic division, the Molecular Testing of multiple solid tumors.
This service constitutes a clear step toward precision medicine and is being offered for the first time in Qatar. The availability of in-house diagnostic services significantly impacts health care and personalized management of cancer patients.
