Message form the Program Director

The SICU fellowship program was the first fellowship program to be started in the department of anesthesia, ICU, and perioperative medicine in the year 2012. We recruit 2 fellows per year and it is a 2 years full time program. The fellowship program offers training in all aspects of adult critical care including medical and surgical critical care, with the focus being Critical care management of surgical patients. The 1st and 2nd year include SICU based learning with rotations in MICU, Infectious diseases, nephrology, endoscopy, radiology, CCU and CTICU. In 2nd year the fellows are supposed to lead the clinical services in the SICU under the supervision of the consultants and update their scholarly activities as well as must clear the exit exam. Up till now 7 fellows from the anesthesia residency program had successfully completed the fellow program and one of the Fellow became chief resident in internationally recognized hospital Sunny Brook in Toronto Canada. Our fellows had an impressive scholarly activity profile with numerous presentations in national and international conferences, publications in regional and international peer reviewed medical journals. All of our fellows were successfully promoted to higher ranks after completion of the fellowship program.
