Dr. Fatemah Qasem

Dr. Fatemah Qasem is an obstetric anesthesiologist and the Head of the Department of Anesthesia at Maternity Hospital in Kuwait, which has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP). She also serves as the Program Director for the Anesthesia Residency Program at the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization (KIMS), where she leads the academic and professional development of future anesthesiologists.

Dr. Qasem completed her postgraduate training through the Kuwait Board of Anesthesia and pursued specialized fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She holds a Master’s degree in Medical Education from the University of Dundee, Scotland, and completed a simulation education and research fellowship at the University of Calgary.

Her professional interests focus on maternal safety, healthcare quality improvement, and simulation-based medical education. She is deeply involved in developing and leading innovative training initiatives that promote evidence-based practice, enhance team performance, and improve outcomes in high-risk obstetric care.

Dr. Qasem is also actively engaged in research and interprofessional collaboration, with a commitment to advancing clinical practice through continuous learning, systems innovation, and patient-centered care.​
