Prof. Martin Steinhoff - Director
Professor. Martin Steinhoff is the Director of the Translational Research Institute (TRI), Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology and Director of the Dermatology Institute at Hamad Medical Corporation. He is also a Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College New York, USA, Weill-Cornell Medicine-Qatar and Qatar University.
Professor. Steinhoff studied Medicine and Human Biology in Germany where he received his MD, MSc, and PhD from the University of Marburg. After his residency in Dermatology/Venereology, he became Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Muenster in 2002, rising from Assistant to Full Professor in 6 years.
He holds board certificates in Dermatology, Venereology, Phlebology and Allergy. His clinical fields of interests are Atopic Dermatitis, Pruritus, Psoriasis, Rosacea, and Wound care.
Prof. Steinhoff’s research has been funded with more than 60m euros (~250m QAR) spanning over 20 years. His group has published more than 230 peer-reviewed articles and reviews, 47 book chapters, and more than 500 abstracts (H-index 78). He holds 11 patents, has been a consultant for more than 25 companies, and serves on the scientific advisory board of various dermatology societies and industry partners. He has been P.I. on more than 100 grants, 25 clinical trials and was amongst the top 2% of publishing scientists worldwide.
For his research, Prof Steinhoff received several prestigious international research awards world-wide and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the European Society of Dermatology Research (ESDR), and honorary member of several societies for Dermatology.
