The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) supports staff engaged in research and development, whether initiated within the department or in collaboration with departments outside DLMP, but requiring our support. These types of studies are facilitated through the DLMP Research Committee.
The Research Committee aims to facilitate research projects by:
- Supporting proposals uploaded to the ABHATH platform
- Advising on research costs
- Advising Principle Investigators in the early planning of research proposals
- Establishing an inventory of costs in collaboration with Finance
- Ensuring research needs from DLMP are captured on a DLMP Research Checklist available through the Hamad Medical Corporation ABHATH platform
- Advising on current systems for data management through DLMP or the Hamad Medical Corporation Business Intelligence Unit (BIU)
- Collating on-going studies
During 2020, research activity throughout Hamad Medical Corporation was put on hold or re-directed towards COVID-19. Research has now been restarted. In 2020 some 115 separate research studies were approved involving DLMP including from 8 external organizations.
