Professor David C Wheeler
David is Professor of Kidney Medicine at University College London, UK and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the Royal Free Hospital. He has participated in the development and running of several large-scale clinical trials testing therapeutic interventions in kidney disease and was co-principal investigator of the DAPA-CKD trial, which has contributed to broader use of Sodium Glucose-2 Cotransporter Inhibitors to prevent kidney disease progression. He has developed clinical practice guidelines for several organisations, most recently for Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO), of which he was Co-Chair from 2012-2019. He is currently Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Nephrology.
