Dr. Essa Abuhelaiqa obtained his M.D. degree from Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar in 2011. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at Virginia Commonwealth University followed by Nephrology Fellowship and Transplant Nephrology Fellowship at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell (NYP-WCM). He received the Young Investigator Award at the American Transplant Society (AST) Congress and Best Oral Research at the American College of Physicians 5th Internal Medicine Conference in Qatar. He is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology as well as AST Certified in Transplant Nephrology.
