Dr. Raphaël Blanc

Dr. Raphaël Blanc is an interventional and diagnostic radiologist and deputy head of the Department of Interventional Neuroradiology at Rothschild Foundation Hospital (HFAR) since 2010. He has been a staff for 15 years at HFAR.

He received his MD, MSc degrees from Paris University in 2003. He was resident in radiology in Paris Hospital from 1998 to 2003. He has done his fellowship in Neuroradiology in Henri Mondor Hospital (Ancien Chef de Clinique et Assistant des hôpitaux de Paris -APHP) in Creteil and has been on staff since that time.

His work and research interests include: Embolisation of Cerebral and medullary vascular pathologies: Aneurysms, AVM, Stroke, dural fistulas, Tumor embolization as well as diagnostic Neuroradiology. He is involved in the development, design and conception, preclinical/clinical research, and regulatory aspects for new endovascular medical devices.

He has been a co-principal investigator for many medical device’s studies. He is practicing as an interventional radiologist for peripheral embolization and dialysis access treatment. He has co-founded in 2016, Basecamp Vascular (BCV) a Medtech start-up developing an endovascular electronic actuable guidewire and is President since and has been CEO until end 2022. BCV Is at a clinical stage (FIH realized in July 2022). 

He is co-founder and board member of the French National Registry of Mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion (ETIS). He is involved in a French national consortium (ANR) on acute ischemic stroke: RHU Booster (Direction Pr. Mazighi).
