Dr. Sownd Sankaralingam obtained his MBBS degree from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University in India. He then obtained a PhD in Physiology from the University of Alberta, Canada and completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in the Department of Medicine also from the same university. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the College of Pharmacy at Qatar University. His research focuses on the role of pharmacists in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases management, pharmacist-involved home blood pressure monitoring and utilization of medical devices in healthcare. He has published more than 25 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His students have won research and presentation awards at national and international conferences. As an educator he teaches pathophysiology, and patient assessment (clinical skills) to undergraduate and PharmD students. He is also a certified healthcare simulation educator and conducts simulation-based activities to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-life clinical experiences.
