Dr. Shuja Reagu is a Senior Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Qatar, where he leads the Inpatient and Criminal justice liaison of HMC's forensic psychiatry services.
Dr. Reagu is the founder director of the first comprehensive forensic psychiatry service in Qatar and has established fellowship and training programs in forensic psychiatry in Qatar. He has introduced pioneering practices in psychiatry regionally and is a leading expert witness for the criminal justice system in Qatar.
Before coming to Qatar, Dr Shuja was the Regional Lead for Female secure services, Regional Lead for Case management services and Regional Lead for the LD Forensic services for the Welsh secure services. He was one of leading expert witnesses to the Welsh Criminal justice system on the aspects of Mental Health Law. His practice focuses on preventing victimization and building safer societies. His interest is mental health in vulnerable groups like females, migrants, and those with learning difficulties.
Dr. Reagu is an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry with Weill Cornell Medicine, Qatar and before that was clinical lecturer with Cardiff University, UK. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals and presented internationally.
