Dr. Ammar Sadoon

Dr. Sadoon is an associate professor at the Division of Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and an attending physician pediatric pulmonologist at the Children's of Alabama. 

He graduated from the University of Mosul College of Medicine, completed a pediatric residency at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, and had a pediatric pulmonary fellowship at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar before moving to the United States. 

He then did residency and fellowship at UAB. He is the medical director of the Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Program and the Sickle Cell Disease Pulmonary Program at UAB and Children's of Alabama. 

He is a member of the Editorial Board for PREP Pulmonology and a member of the NIEHS/NIH grant review committee. 

His research focuses on pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary complications of SCD. His research spans clinical, translational, and basic research to study both conditions' risk factors and therapeutic targets.
