Prof. Hanadi Khamis Al Hamad, widely recognized as a distinguished healthcare leader in Qatar and beyond, has profoundly influenced the fields of geriatrics, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Serving as Deputy Chief of Rehabilitation, Long-Term Care, Geriatric Services, Home Healthcare Services, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Social Services at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), she also holds the roles of Medical Director of Rumailah Hospital and the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute. As the National Health Strategy 3 (NHS 3) Lead for Healthy Ageing and the WHO Focal Point for Healthy Ageing and Dementia, Prof. Al Hamad has pioneered transformative policies and programs that set benchmarks in patient-centered care. A Board-Certified Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, she brings advanced expertise in healthcare management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Harvard Medical School. Prof. Al Hamad is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and Clinical Professor at Qatar University’s College of Medicine. Under her leadership, Qatar has adopted WHO rehabilitation indicators and developed groundbreaking initiatives such as the National Ageing Biorepository and WHO Rehabilitation Guidelines for Low Back Pain. Her exemplary contributions are reflected in her h-index of 40, securing over $10 million USD in research grants, and numerous peer-reviewed publications focusing on neurodegenerative diseases and healthcare quality. By spearheading international collaborations with WHO, CARF, Johns Hopkins Medicine, and others, Prof. Al Hamad continues to shape global healthcare practices, ensuring dignified and innovative services for ageing populations and advancing Qatar’s position as a leader in rehabilitation and geriatric medicine.
