Dr. Mohammed Abukhattab is a Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases, Travel and Tropical Medicine at the Department of Medicine in Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). He is also the Chairperson of the Communicable Disease Center Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee.
He has a special interest in educational programs such as fellowships and teaching medical students and was appointed as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Medical College in Qatar University. Dr. Abdulkhattab has over 60 publications including original articles, case reports, and poster presentations. He is also actively involved in clinical programs and protocol development and chairs the CDC Sepsis committee and CDC CPG committee to advance the standards of care for patients.
Dr. Abdulkhattab graduated from Sudan in 1999 and obtained his Arab Board certification in Internal Medicine in 2007. He completed infectious disease fellowship at HMC. In 2018 he was granted a Fellowship by the American College of Physicians (FACP). He is also a Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America (FIDSA)
Dr. Abdulkhattab is certified in Travel Medicine, with a certificate from the prestigious International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM). He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine (FTM) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is also certified in the field of tropical medicine from the Royal College of London with a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene.
