Dr. Mark W. Verrill is the Head of the Department of Medical Oncology, and a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the North of England Cancer Network, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He is the Lead Clinican for Breast Cancer in the North of England Cancer Network, NHS, UK.
 
Education
He received his medical degree from the University of Cambridge, UK (1983-1986), and completed his training in Medical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, UK, and the Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK. He obtained his fellowship in University of Cambridge, London, UK in 2003.
 
Professional History
He was a Senior Lecturer in Medical Oncology at the University of Newcastle, UK (1999-2007).
 
Areas of Interest
His research interest is in Breast Cancer clinical trials: particularly systemic therapies for Breast Cancer and cytotoxic chemotherapy for soft tissue and bone sarcomas. His research also focuses on cytotoxic chemotherapy for soft tissue and bone sarcomas, gastrointestinal stromal tumours, and systemic therapies for Breast Cancer.

He is a Steering Committee member of the UK Breast Cancer Group, and an Advisory Board member of the Breast Cancer Forum and a member of the: ASCO, National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Breast Clinical Studies Group, and Anglo-Celtic Cooperative Oncology Group (ACCOG).
