Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) celebrated the country’s National Day in throughout the Corporation’s hospitals and departments; to commemorating the special occasion with staff, patients and their families.
HMC’s Managing Director, Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari, joined staff, patients and visitors in celebrating Qatar National Day at Al Wakra Hospital (AWH), the Bone and Joint Center, the Department of Transport and the Human Resources Department.
Dr. Al Kuwari enjoyed celebrating National Day and expressed how proud and happy she was at seeing HMC colleagues participating in the festivities: ”Qatar National Day is an opportunity to renew our loyalty, determination and efforts to promote the country and to support the process of development and overall renaissance, especially in light of the tremendous achievements that have contributed to strengthening the country’s position on both the regional and the international stage. It is also an opportunity to express our love for this precious country.”
The Department of Transport had set up a heritage tent to receive guests. Horses and rider, school children in national dress were on hand to provide various entertainments. National Day videos and songs and folkdances was performed for Dr Al Kuwari and guests.
At the Bone & Joint Centre, a traditional tent was set up to welcome guests and visitors, serving popular foods and Arabic coffee. The Centre’s entrances were decorated with flags. Patriotic songs and Al Ardha Dance were presented.
A tent was also erected in the grounds of Al Wakra Hospital to receive Dr. Al Kuwari and other guests from Al Wakra. Fun games were provided for children and gifts and traditional foods were distributed to attendees. Drawing competitions for children and popular games were held. The events included the presentation of videos and patriotic songs and a marching band from the Amiri Guard played
patriotic music.
All of HMC’s hospitals had made a significant effort to celebrate this national anniversary with the participation of all staff and patients by offering a number of awareness activities and health tips and information.
Events were held in the main entrance of the outpatient clinics at HGH which displayed decorated flags and a range of maroon and white striped balloons. The activities included Al Ardha traditional dances and serving Arabic coffee. A number of school students, who wore traditional dress, performed patriotic songs. Puppet shows, workshops for children and henna drawing were also held.
At the Women’s Hospital, a traditional tent was set up in the main entrance to welcome guests and participants with Arabic coffee. The entrances were also decorated with the Qatar flag. The hospital also presented special gifts of car seats to the first 33 children born that day.
Celebration events were also held at the Rumailah Hospital, the Heart Hospital, the National Center for Cancer Care and Research, the Enaya Continuing Care Center – Muaither 2 and HMC Medical Education Center.
All public areas were decorated with the national colours of Qatar and many facilities had organised tents outside their facility entrances to welcome visitors with traditional coffee and refreshments.
Celebrations at Al Khor Hospital and Cuban Hospital included an Arabic tent set up to welcome visitors and participants to the celebration. Arabian coffee and traditional sweets were served. Flags decorated all the reception offices at the hospital. The main entrance was fully decorated with roses and flags to receive patients and staff. Refreshments were provided at the main gate of the Visitors and Patient Service Centre and gifts were distributed to all staff and patients. The celebrations also included face-painting for children and listening to national anthems. Signs were placed at the main gate to congratulate people on National Day and to welcome patients and visitors.
At Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City, a celebration was held in the central garden with the participation of staff and long-term care patients. A lunch table was set up for the patients and attendees. The traditional Ardha dance was performed and the medical city’s buildings were decorated with flags.
