The Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering Program at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently organized Arabic language training courses for dialogue and conversation skills for non-Arabic speaking staff.

Speaking about the event held at Bayt Al Diyafah in Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, Ms. Balqees Al Khazraji, Director of Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering Program explained that such courses are organized on a yearly basis to target HMC’s non-Arab employees in a bid to boost their communication skills with patients and their families.

She highlighted the advantages of these language courses in the enrichment of culture and the development of Arabic language among HMC staff. Ms. Al Khazraji noted that participants in the courses showed great interest and achieved considerable success.

About 81 staff, comprising physicians and nurses, took part in three different courses held each week during the program. The first course titled: “The Enhancement of Dialogue in Arabic Language” was presented by Al Fanar Islamic Cultural Center. The second course was presented by Tamouh Ambition Voluntary Center under the title: “Let’s Speak Arabic”. The last lecture was presented by Qatar Guests Center, an affiliate of Sheikh Eid Charitable Association under the title: “Learn Conversation and Dialogue”.

The courses were presented in line with the Arabic language curriculum which was edited and designed by specialized education experts. The curriculum follows specific graded levels in the process of learning the language and the dialogue, indicating the appropriate references and learning aid tools.
