Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering Programs recently organized an educational health exhibition at Ruqaya Independent Preparatory School for Girls with the aims of promoting health awareness, enhancing public health and encouraging commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
The exhibition was declared opened by Mrs. Hessa Al Abdulla, Operator and Principal of Al Bayan Educational Complex and Ruqaya Independent Preparatory School for Girls and Dr. Abdul Hamid Al Khanji, Specialist and Coordinator of the School Health Program, in the presence of a number of Al Bayan Educational Complex headmasters.
“The exhibition aimed to promote health awareness among young generations. It also aimed to improve the physical, mental and social health of the student community in addition to enhancing positive communication between students and the community,” said Ms. Balqees Al Khazraji, Director of Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering Programs at HMC.
She added that the event was held to help the students discover institutions, youth centers and voluntary initiatives and programs that provide volunteering opportunities and invest in educating students about the importance and promising future of health professions, in addition to promoting scholarship opportunities to them at HMC.
While thanking HMC for organizing the event for the students, Mrs. Hessa Al Abdulla stated that the exhibition helped the students to define their future career pathways and plan their professional future in various areas.
Other HMC departments that took part in the exhibition were Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Pediatric, Dietetics, Pharmacy, Ophthalmology, Dentistry and Psychiatry. Staff from the Home Healthcare Service at HMC were present to highlight various home care services provided to patients and their families.
Staff from Heart Hospital’s Respiratory Therapy Unit as well as the Dermatology Clinic, Smoking Cessation Clinic, anesthesia section, Hamad International Training Center and the Blood Donor Center also participated in the exhibition.
