    The Trauma Center at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) hosted a visiting delegation from the traffic ministries of the GCC countries. The visit, which comes in the context of the Gulf Traffic Week activities, aims at familiarizing the delegates with the role of the Center in the care of trauma patients in Qatar. The delegates were briefed on healthcare services rendered by HMC to urgent trauma patients and road traffic accident victims.    

    Dr. Hisham Abdulrahman, Trauma consultant and Head of Resuscitation Unit at Hamad Trauma Center (HTC), stated: “the Center has made major strides in the development of a national trauma system for Qatar, through continuing to provide exemplary teaching and research in the fields of trauma, acute surgery and critical care in Qatar. HTC has earned 'Distinction for Trauma Services' by the Accreditation Canada International for the quality and safety of the trauma services it offers to its patients and the community.”

    “The Center has built on its strengths internally to form a team with the ambulance service, emergency department, rehabilitation department and numerous departments involved in clinical and support services that provides exemplary services for all of the victims of all kinds of trauma in Qatar. It has created partnerships with stakeholders in the community, government and non-government institutions in order to extend its services to prevent injuries from happening and make Qatar safer for all of its residents,” Dr. Abdulrahman added.

    The visiting delegation concluded their visit with a round in the inpatient ward accompanied by trauma and emergency physicians. Commemorative gifts have been distributed to the visiting delegation.
