    Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will welcome a host of visiting consultants from various medical specialties during the month of September. 

    The visits are part of the organization’s effort to provide patients with additional access to international experts and to continue to enhance the quality of healthcare services in its hospitals. The visiting consultants are as follows: 

    • Professor Alan Saber, Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive General Surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA, will visit from 2 to 10 September;
    • Dr. John Herzenberg, the Director of Pediatric Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital Baltimore and the Director of the International Center of Limb Lengthening in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, will visit from 9 to 16 September;
    • Professor Yasuhiro Ogura, a Transplantation Surgery Specialist from Nagoya University Hospital, in Nagoya, Japan, will visit from 10 to 11 September;
    • Dr. Antonio Torres, Professor of Surgery at the Complutense University of Madrid and Chief of the General, Digestive and Thoracic Surgery Service at the Clínico San Carlos Hospital in Madrid, Spain, will visit from 16 to 19 September;
    • Dr. Jan Magnus Becker, a Plastic Surgery Senior Consultant at Skåne University Hospital SUS in Lund, Sweden, will visit from 16 to 22 September;
    • Dr. David Shu Chih Chu, an Ophthalmology Specialist and Founder and Director of the Metropolitan Eye Research and Surgery Institute of New York and New Jersey, USA, will visit from 30 September to 3 October.

    Other experts are scheduled to visit throughout the year as part of HMC’s focus on hosting highly-respected physicians and surgeons from around the world. Hosting visiting international consultants who are experts in their field is in line with HMC’s policy to provide specialized medical services to the people of Qatar. 

    Members of the public wishing to book an appointment with one of the visiting consultants are advised to discuss this option with their physician. If your doctor agrees that an appointment with a visiting consultant is appropriate, they will provide a referral.
