"HMC is currently undergoing the largest expansion program in its history and last year celebrated the official opening of our new Medical City complex by His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Together, the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, Ambulatory Care Center, and Women's Wellness and Research Center have improved our ability to provide specialized care for the people of Qatar," added Mr. Al Khater.

He said the fact that Qatar's health system is ranked 13th best in the world, and first in the Middle East, by the 2017 Legatum Prosperity Index is a further endorsement of the quality of care delivered to patients. The annual index measures and ranks the health of people living in 149 countries.

Mr. Rashid Bin Khalifa Bousherbak Al Mansouri, Executive Director of HMC's Biomedical Engineering Department, spoke during one of the Forum's scientific sessions, delivering a presentation entitled 'Needs-based Methods used to Reach Procurement Decisions.' His presentation explored methods for assessing hospital need for medical technology and the decision-making process when purchasing equipment and technology. His presentation was followed by a question and answer session with the audience.

His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Obaid Al Saidi, Minister of Health for the Sultanate of Oman and His Excellency Bahr Idriss Abu Garda, the Sudanese Federal Minister of Health visited HMC's stand at the event's exhibition. Both officials congratulated HMC on receiving the Excellence Award in Health Operational Performance and acknowledged the role the healthcare provider is playing in helping to transform Qatar's healthcare system. Mr. Al Khater presented both Ministers with an official HMC plaque of appreciation in recognition of their contribution to the improvement of healthcare in their respective countries.

The event's exhibition featured the sector's leading suppliers and showcased the latest discoveries and techniques across various medical specialties. Healthcare organizations, manufacturers, and distributors from across the region were among this year's exhibitors.

HMC participates in the Arab Hospitals Federation's annual forum each year as part of its strategy for remaining up-to-date with regional and global health sector developments. It also provides an opportunity to highlight HMC's focus on training, education, and clinical service improvements.
