The Compassionate Human Interactions (CHI) Training Program, a collaborative effort between CPESE and Planetree International, is designed to foster a culture of compassion that radiates throughout every facet of HMC’s operations. By placing compassion at the forefront, we aspire to nurture a more empathetic and supportive environment that enriches the lives of both patients and healthcare professionals, while continuously enhancing the compassionate communication skills of our HMC staff.
The primary goal of CHI Training is to establish a sustainable learning culture centered on patient care, ensuring that every interaction involving HMC’s staff is infused with empathy, compassion, and understanding. The integration of experiential learning across all HMC facilities aims to:
- Enhance practical skills that positively impact patient care.
- Foster better collaboration among diverse healthcare roles.
- Equip teams in each HMC facility with improved problem-solving and adaptability skills.
- Ensure healthcare delivery remains person-centered and empathetic.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning to support professional growth.
- Strengthen trust between healthcare workers and patients through compassionate interactions.
After completing the foundational CHI Training modules developed by Planetree International, the facilities have the opportunity to create their own training modules. These modules are developed under the guidance of CPESE and Planetree International, offering essential guidance and validation to ensure the training content meets rigorous standards of compassionate care. The specific needs of each HMC facility are comprehensively assessed, taking into account specialties, patient demographics, and staff expertise. This process aims to customize CHI Training content to address specific challenges and enhance compassionate care practices. The content closely aligns with CHI and PCC principles, emphasizing empathy, effective communication, and cultural competency to improve patient interactions and overall care quality.
Post-training evaluations serve to measure the effectiveness of the program and guide the development of improvements based on feedback from staff’s real-time experiences with patients. These evaluations enhance training effectiveness, support continuous professional development, and build compassionate human interaction skills across all HMC facilities.
Through the CHI Training Program, HMC aims to create a more compassionate, empathetic, and effective healthcare system—one that cherishes humanity in each interaction and enriches the lives of all who pass through our doors.
