David J. Warner is Director, Center on Practice Development at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Bethesda, Maryland, where his primary responsibility is to direct the new ASHP Consulting business. ASHP Consulting provides consulting services for domestic and international clients for all aspects of pharmacy services and postgraduate pharmacy residency programs. He has worked for ASHP in full-time and contractor roles for 20 years in the Practice Advancement Office and the Accreditation Services Office, involving his current role and former roles as Director, International Residency Program Development, Director of Residency Program Development, and initially as an Accreditation Services Associate. Dr. Warner left full-time ASHP work from March 2010 through June of 2014, when he was an Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer and Director of Pharmacy Education at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Warner earned his Pharm.D. from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy and afterward completed a clinical pharmacy residency there. He served as a clinical pharmacist in cardiology and adult critical care at University Hospital, University of Nebraska Medical Center, and as an Adjunct Faculty Member in the College of Pharmacy at UNMC for 10 years following his residency program and before joining ASHP.
