
Professor Derek Stewart, PhD
Derek Stewart is Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen UK. He is the strategic lead for pharmacy practice research and is an internationally recognized researcher. He has published over 160 peer-reviewed research papers, secured research income of around £3 million and supervised 17 PhD students to completion. In 2011 he was awarded the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Practice Research Award for his outstanding contribution to practice research. He is an executive editor of the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy. His research focuses on the development, implementation and evaluation of models of pharmacy practice, and medicines use, effectiveness and safety. He is the Chair of the Research Committee of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Practice Research Panel.
He is also an internationally recognised educator having led the development of pharmacist prescribing training programmes in Scotland.
He is well-known in Qatar, having worked with Dr Moza Al Hail and her colleagues at HMC since 2010.
