Dr. Mohamed Omer El Tahir works as a senior consultant psychiatrist in Neurodevelopmental and Intellectual Disability at Hamad Medical Corporation. He has had wide clinical experience working in the National Health Services in UK for over 20 years and is using his experience to help lead the development of this Service in Qatar.

Dr. Mohamed has honorary titles from many academic institutions, including the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Swansea University, Qatar University and the World Health Organization. Has been an academic and clinical trainer for psychiatric training and worked on many projects developing training curricula for different countries in the Middle East.

Currently, he holds many managerial roles including chair responsibility of Research, Quality Improvement, Audit and the Examination Committee of the Qatari Board for Medical Specialties. He also acted as an External Examiner for many Boards of Psychiatry Specialty.

Dr. Mohamed contributed to many conferences and published many Journal articles and participated in writing a chapter in a book on Intellectual Disability across cultures.

He has been Chair of the Learning Disability Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Division in Wales for 4 years and was a member of the Welsh Assembly Learning Disability Advisory Group.
Currently, he us Lead Principal Investigator for BARAKA Project in HMC a genomic study of causes of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Qatar.
