Sonia joined the Mental Health Service HMC Qatar as a clinical psychologist at the end of 2018.
Sonia completed a MA of Specialized Studies in Applied Clinical Psychology and a MA of Advanced Studies in Clinical Psychology (clinical and neuropsychology) at the University of Human and Social Sciences of Tunis. Her dissertation was focused on the study of episodic memory disorders in dementia through the paradigm of selective reminding.
She worked for 2 years as a trainee psychologist at the Razi psychiatric hospital in Tunis. Then, she worked as senior clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist at the National Institute of Neurology of Tunis for 26 years, where she cared for young and elderly patients with cognitive impairment.
During her academic and professional background, she was a member of the Neurosciences research laboratory of Professor M. Bouaziz (Sciences University of Tunis). Her areas of interest were dementias and the adaptation of neuropsychological tests. She was also a temporary teaching assistant for 4 years at the Higher School of Health Sciences and Technics of Tunis.
She had a certification in CBT from Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), UK.
Since qualifying as a clinical psychologist, Sonia has provided training to master’s students in clinical psychology and neuropsychology, as well as to junior psychologists (Both in Tunisia and Qatar).
