​​Dr. Deanna C Fang
Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Pathology

Dr. Deanna C Fang, MD is a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor of Pathology at University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine.  She is quintuply certified, having completed residency training in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) at University of Utah School of Medicine (ARUP Laboratories) with additional fellowship training in Medical Microbiology (MM) at University of Utah School of Medicine (ARUP Laboratories), Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine (BB/TM) at University of Minnesota Medical School, and Clinical Immunogenetics (HLA) at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She previously served as the Medical Director of Blood Bank in the Transfusion Medicine Division at Mayo Clinic Florida, where she also provided clinical coverage in apheresis, cell therapy, and coagulation.  She later joined UCSD to serve as the Associate Director of the Immunogenetics & Transplantation Laboratory and as the Associate Director of Transfusion Medicine.  Dr. Fang has a current and prior history of volunteer service on CAP, ASHI, and AABB committees and subsections, most recently serving as a member of AABB’s Transfusion Transmitted Diseases (TTD) Committee and AABB’s Blood Banks and Transfusion Services (BBTS) Standards Committee.  She is also the current Chair of the ASHI HLA Director in Training (DIT) Education Organizing Group.  In 2019, Dr. Fang was selected by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)’s 40 Under Forty program as a Top Five Honoree.
