Dr. PhD, Team Lead for Blood and other Products of Human Origin

Dr. Yuyun Siti Maryuningsih Soedarmono is the Team Lead for Blood and Other Products of Human Origin at the Technical Standard and Specifications Unit, Health Products Policy and Standards Department, WHO Headquarters. In this role, she manages the development of global written and measurement standards in the field of blood transfusion and assists Member States in improving their blood systems. Dr. Yuyun is a Medical Doctor specializing in Transfusion Medicine and holds a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences. She earned her PhD in Biomedical Science from Indonesian University in 2010, a Master’s degree in Virology from Adelaide University in 1996, and a Medical degree from Padjadjaran University in 1988. Her work experience includes serving as the Team Lead for Blood and Other Products of Human Origin at WHO Headquarters since October 2018, working at the Directorate of Primary Health Services at the Ministry of Health of Indonesia from 2015 to 2018, coordinating the Master Program on Biomedics Specialty in Transfusion Science at Indonesian University from 2011 to 2018, and directing the Central Blood Transfusion Service at the Indonesian Red Cross from 2004 to 2015. Dr. Yuyun has received several accolades, including the “Wahidin Sudirohusodo” Indonesian Association of Medical Doctors (IDI) Appreciation in 2018 and the International Plasma and Fractionation Association (IPFA) 2023 Award. She has held various affiliations and memberships, such as Chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Transfusion Medicine (PDTDI) from 2015 to 2017, Regional Director of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) for the South-East Asia Region from 2016 to 2019, Committee Member of the Partnership Training Network of APEC Blood Supply Chain Forum in 2015, Member of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) from 2005 to 2020, and Chairman for the Indonesian National Blood Services Committee from 2017 to 2019.
